Nearpod and Pear Deck

nearpod powerpoint alternative

Nearpod and Pear Deck are very similar to a slide show, like PowerPoint or Google Slides. But instead of just static, informational slides, you can make interactive slides that let every student participate in your questions or prompts, right from their own devices.

Both apps’ concept is simple. A teacher can create presentations that can contain Quizzes, Polls, Videos, Images, Drawing-Boards, Web Content and so on. When you present your slides, you will get a unique code for students to use to join your presentation from their phone or computer. It is up to the teacher to then move the class through the presentation and let them interact with the media as they go.

Both have FREE versions as well which allow you to create polls, interactive quizzes, open-ended questions, beautiful slideshows. Nearpod has a limited storage of 50MB which, in my experience, is enough for about 10 fabulous presentations! On the other hand, Pear Deck stores all your presentations in Google Drive which means you will have unlimited space for all your Pear Decks.
